His Excellency Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay announced the country’s calculation of GEP at $6.2 billion, about twice the size of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP). This follows on Bhutan being the world’s first carbon-negative country and the pioneer of gross national happiness (GNH). The Stanford University-based Natural Capital Alliance worked with the Bhutan government to calculate GEP. Enlight Foundation is a proud partner of this work.

We're honored to share that TIME named Enlight Foundation Founder and President Xin Liu to the 2026 TIME100 Philanthropy list recognizing people who are shaping the future of giving. Supported by the Enlight Foundation and led by Solution Insight lab, this five-year initiative will synthesize real-world learnings from 25 global organizations in the ICONIQ Impact Youth Mental Wellbeing Co-Lab and their extended networks. By interviewing practitioners, researchers, funders, and young people, the platform highlights how change happens on the ground.
